Member for Williamstown, Wade Noonan MP, was today promoted to the position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Shadow Minister for Health, as part of Labor’s reshuffle.
Mr Noonan will now provide support to the Shadow Ministers for Health, Mental Health and Health Promotion.
“Health is one of the key issues for any Government, so I’m delighted to be supporting a team in Opposition to help scrutinise the Baillieu Government’s performance in this area,” Mr Noonan said.
“At a time when we should be investing more in health, the Baillieu Government used their first State Budget last year to cut more than $500 million from the system. This is simply not good enough.”
"I have a strong interest in this area and previously assisted the former Minister for Health, Daniel Andrews, to develop Victoria’s first ever Men’s Health Policy in 2010. In addition, I have supported the Western RDA’s health screening pilot and conducted annual community forums on topics such as cancer, diet and exercise, and autism spectrum disorders.”
“I’ve also worked very hard to support and grow Williamstown Hospital’s services, and encourage greater investment in Western Health.”
“I look forward to my new challenge and pledge to do everything I can to hold the Baillieu Government to account.”
Wade Noonan entered the Parliament in late 2007 after the sudden retirement of the former Premier, Steve Bracks.
