WILLIAMSTOWN WOMEN’S FOOTBALL PARTNERSHIP CELEBRATED

Bayside P-12 College and the Williamstown Football Club today celebrated the creation of an accelerated women’s football program at Bayside’s Williamstown Campus.

The accelerated women’s football program will see year 7 to 9 girls training alongside Williamstown Football Club’s recently inaugurated VFLW team. The program will give female students the opportunity to benefit from the skill, expertise, and knowledge of elite-level athletes, providing them with a pathway to VFLW.

The pathway program is part of a broader partnership between Bayside College and the Williamstown Football Club, which this year has seen the Seagulls invest $50,000 towards upgrading the oval at the College and transforming it into a pristine training base.

Bayside College will soon become the Williamstown Football Club’s own preseason training venue, providing certainty to the club’s elite footballers.

This partnership reflects the growing role that the Williamstown Football Club is playing within the Hobsons Bay community and it is the second accelerated football program run by the Seagulls at local schools.

The positive outcomes at Bayside College’s Williamstown Campus are a result of exemplary collaboration between the Williamstown Football Club, the Williamstown Juniors Football Club, the Williamstown CYMS Cricket Club, and the Hobsons Bay City Council.

It is anticipated that this collaborative approach between these stakeholders will continue to deliver important results for local athletes, with a proposal to upgrade sporting facilities at the College’s Paisley Campus currently being considered by the Council.
